There is nothing– NOTHING– more frustrating than in 2025, having trouble getting a real person on the phone. While we acknowledge AI and chatbots are helpful for small issues like refunds or a quick request, most issues are unique to us.

Not every customer’s problems are cookie-cutter, so why should the customer service responses be?

People are speaking up and out, with action- canceling plans or giving up altogether. We know that people are not enjoying the inconveniences caused by not being able to reach a person on the phone or have someone walk them through actual problems. We can only Google or Chat GPT so much information before we actually need some ideas for our real life.

That’s what brings us to today’s blog– should you use a broker or use AI/do your own research when it comes to your insurance needs?

Consider the pros and cons:

Personalized Advice vs. One-Size-Fits-All

A local insurance broker takes the time to understand your unique needs and can suggest coverage options that actually make sense for your situation.
When you buy online, you’re often left guessing which coverage limits and options are right for you, potentially leading to overpaying or leaving yourself underinsured.

Access to Better (and More) Options

Brokers work with multiple insurance companies, meaning they can shop around for the best price and coverage.  Direct insurers only show you their own policies, so you might not get the best deal.

Help with Claims (When It Actually Matters)

If you ever need to file a claim, a broker is your advocate, helping you navigate the process, negotiate with the insurance company, and get the best possible outcome.  You’re on your own dealing with customer service, which can be frustrating and time-consuming.

Local Expertise

A local broker knows your area’s specific risks (e.g., harsh winters, flooding zones, or high accident areas) and can recommend coverage accordingly.  A generic online tool doesn’t consider the unique risks of your location.

Real Human Support vs. Chatbots and Hold Music

You have a real person to call when you have a question, need to update your policy, or want clarification.  Many online insurers rely on chatbots, automated systems, or long customer service wait times.

Can Actually Save You Money

Because brokers compare rates and policies from multiple providers, they often find better coverage for a lower cost than if you went directly to an insurer. They also help find discounts you might not know exist.  While online quotes can seem cheaper upfront, they don’t always include hidden fees or factor in all potential discounts.

Peace of Mind

You’re not just buying insurance—you’re gaining a trusted advisor who makes sure you’re always covered properly.  If you make a mistake in selecting your coverage, it’s on you.

People Over Robots

AI technology is great to augment a human’s actions, but we just don’t want to see it replacing actual help that people need when they need it most. We look forward to being your “person” now and for years to come!

We’re confident our reputation, word of mouth, and our ability to help with speak for itself.
